Queensday sweater
Vote for Pauline van Dongen
A few months ago we let you know Pauline van Dongen was selected by C&A to participate in the ‘Reimagine Design Challenge’.
A contest between eight international designers with the aim to show how daily life can inspire new ways of thinking. Pauline has designed a garment of organic shapes that are made of latex coated plastic plates. She turned an everyday plastic object into haute couture.
Now you can vote for her on Facebook! If she wins, she may donate 10.000 euro to charity within Dutch fashion.
eye&ME exhibition opening
Yesterday was the opening of the photography exhibition of MOAM presents ‘eye&ME’ at EYE.
‘eye&ME’ is an exhibition where nine photographers collaborate with nine actors and actresses. In pairs, they created together an interpretation of a scene from the movie &ME by Nortbert ter Hall. Amongst others Tjitske Reidinga, Monique van de Ven, Georgina Verbaan and Derek de Lint, were excited about this project, the link between the big names and young talent.
,,So many different actors and photographers were willing to work on the exhibition, that alone is a sign that the Dutch creative industry is alive and well,” said Nekoui, curator of the exhibition.
GlamCult – A Rest Stop for Pinar&Viola, Duy and Lisa
Ecstatic surface designers Pinar&Viola, photographer Duy Vo and stylist Lisa Anne Stuyfzand made a special fashion serie to Issue 2 of GlamCult. To celebrate the launch of this issue, the result of this collab will be exposed in the new exhibition space of GlamCult Studio: A Rest Stop for Rare Individuals.

MOAM presents EYE&ME
MOAM presents EYE&ME is a photography exhibition where nine contemporary and renowned photographers collaborate with nine actors and actresses. They give, in pairs, an interpretation of a scene from the new movie by Norbert ter Hall; &ME.
There are three different scenes selected from the movie, each scene is reinterpreted by three different photographers. The photographers work together with a known Dutch actor or actress and they will capture the scene in one picture. So there are three different interpretations of the same scene.

Tony Cohen shows at Amsterdam Fashion Week

Yesterday Tony Cohen showed his latest commercial collection 2loveTonyCohen and his TONYCOHEN collection “Contradiction” during Amsterdam Fashion Week. Characteristic of the new collection “Contradiction” is the use of contrasts in both form and material. Additionally, this theme also reflected in the use of colour, where he includes bright red, green shades and different shades of black.
This season, Tony Cohen came with a scoop. There was the possibility to purchase an item from his new 2loveTonyCohen collection immediately after the show. This exclusive action is a statement against the mass marketing of the big fashion companies and the growing decline of the small retailer. The show was a great success, the collection looked amazing and had an international character!

Winde Rienstra shows “Mourning Cloak” during AFW

Last saturday Winde Rienstra showed already her 4th collection during Amsterdam Fashion Week. Her collection showed dark and black items, a great contrast compared to the bright and white colors that she used in her past collections. Her inspiration came from Mexican and Japanese old cultures and the way they cope with death. The beautiful shoes were made from wood and tie wraps

Pauline van Dongen participate in the C&A Reimagine Design Challenge
Pauline van Dongen was selected by C&A to participate in the ‘Reimagine Design Challenge’. A contest between eight international designers with the aim to show how daily life can inspire new ways of thinking. Pauline was challenged to work with plastic sets of cutlery, cups and plates and transform these objects into a garment. She recycled these everyday objects and transformed them into an aesthetic design.
